a growing number of lawmakers are supporting Personhood USA’s efforts to buck medical expertise and legally define life as the moment a sperm meets an egg.

Once you've decided that science doesn't matter, there's no end to what you can legislate.

But even in the Middle Ages, they weren't quite this ignorant.

I wish I could remember the site, but a couple years (or less?) ago I happened upon one of those rabidly out of touch pro life web sites where they had a video series of Obama as Hitler, piles of dead Jews to show the "baby holocaust," whacked apart fetuses. It was so sick and demented and far from reality, the whole thing was disturbing.

And yes, they had "expert" opinions validating how birth control is just the same as having an abortion. Yup. No difference.

This is the space people like this choose to live. And they want the rest of us to want to be just like them.

Fuck 'em sideways.

Here's an even more sickening twist to Personhood USA's shit:

What Can You Say About a "Conceived In Rape" Tour?

Proposed personhood amendments failed in Colorado two times. Mississippi will be voting on its own personhood amendment this year. In an effort to promote its cause, Personhood Mississippi has started a "Conceived in Rape" tour featuring Rebecca Kiessling, who says she was conceived by rape and was slated for abortion.

...and she then goes on to claim:

Have you ever considered how really insulting it is to say to someone, "I think your mother should have been able to abort you."? It's like saying, "If I had my way, you'd be dead right now." And that is the reality with which I live every time someone says they are pro-choice or pro-life "except in cases of rape" because I absolutely would have been aborted if it had been legal in Michigan when I was an unborn child

So let's make abortions illegal for *all* rape and incest victims!!1!

Ectopic pregnancies are deadly and emergency surgery is needed. I had one. The doctor could tell by my low hormone count and physical exam that there was something wrong. She sent me home for the weekend and told me I may miscarry on my own, but if not, to see her Monday. Nothing happened over the weekend and by Tuesday morning, I was in surgery.

The egg was fertilized in my fallopian tube. The danger, of course, is that it will continue to grow, break through the tube and you hemorrhage to death. Any doctor that would not perform such a procedure should have his license revoked.

We get back to that "C" word again. Choice.

Sadly, it's not even that much of a stretch to think that it's only a matter of time until they they redefine it again, and attempt to outlaw condoms and male masturbation because each sperm is a "potential life" that can't be wasted into a reservoir tip or gym sock.

Every sperm is sacred and must be collected and matched to an egg for complete development. Every potential person must be realized.

If every conception is a person does that mean that all conceptions that fail to make it to birth must needs receive a death certificate? The number of death certificates issued will more than double, assuming they ever find out about all the spontaneous abortions. Women of fertile age must be required to report to a clinic for monthly mammograms to see if a "conception certificate" needs to be issued. And that will only catch half of them.

If we take this "life begins at conception" idea seriously, then spontaneous abortion becomes a serious public health issue. Spontaneous abortion becomes by far the leading cause of death.

If it is spontaneous is god the one doing the abortion?

Here's what some women have decided is the best defense against being accused of murder:

What are these clowns going to try to do next, outlaw masterbating? Listen if you don't believe in birth control, that's fine but it is no right at all to tell people they can't use birth control at all. It deeply amuses me that people like this convince themselves that they are champions of individual rights and small government. They're authoritarians pure and simple.
